How to change the port number used by Quick Connect after installation (4226746)

After installing Quick Connect Sync Engine the Quick Connect GUI will fail when attempting to start the service and attempting to connect.

An error similar to the below will appear in the System Event Log:
Product: Quest ActiveRoles Quick Connect 5.x - Sync Engine -- Error 1920. Service Quest Quick Connect failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

You may see errors in the Event Logs similar to the following;

Critical error on Quick Connect service start occurred.
QC version: 5.x.x
Error details: Error!

There is already a listener on IP endpoint 0.0.0.0:808. Make sure that you are not trying to use this endpoint multiple times in your application and that there are no other applications listening on this endpoint.
Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted.

You are unable to start Quick Connect 5.x if another application is using the Quick Connect default port of 808.

WORKAROUND

In Quick Connect Sync Engine version 5.3 do the following:

1. In the console, click Settings
2. Click Communications Port
3. Enter the new desired port
4. Restart Quick Connect service

For the Remote Connector (available with 5.3 and above) do the following:

1. Navigate to:
   C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Quest One Quick Connect Connector Access Service
2. Open QCRemoteConnectorsHost.exe.config with notepad
3. Change this line to the desired port number:
   <add key="netTcpBindingPort" value=""/>
   Example:
   <add key="netTcpBindingPort" value="62000"/>
4. You should also see multiple lines like this in the file:
   net.tcp://localhost:8080
   To correct all instances of this, perform a Find and Replace (CTRL+H) for 8080 and change to new port - i.e. 62000
5. Once all "8080" entries are updated to the new port, Save and close the file
6. Restart Quest Connector Access Service

In Quick Connect Sync Engine 5.1 and 5.2 do the following:

1. Open the following file (default installation location) in notepad:
   C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Quest One Quick Connect\QuickConnectServerHost.exe.config
2. Locate the following section near the top of the file:
   <appSettings>
           <add key="administrators" value="S-1-5-32-544;S-1-5-18" />
           <add key="users" value="S-1-5-32-544;S-1-5-18" />
           <add key="eventLogLevel" value="" />
           <add key="netTcpBindingPort" value="" />
       </appSettings>
3. Change the netTCPBindingPort value="" to the desired port. Once the change is made it should look like this:
   <appSettings>
           <add key="administrators" value="S-1-5-32-544;S-1-5-18" />
           <add key="users" value="S-1-5-32-544;S-1-5-18" />
           <add key="eventLogLevel" value="" />
           <add key="netTcpBindingPort" value="8000" />
       </appSettings>
4. Once the file is modified, restart the Quick Connect service

Note: Port 8000 is just example. Any other free port number can be used.
