Boot error seen on DPA, "UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY: RUN fsck MANUALLY" -
Description
The DPA fails to boot the operating system with the below errors after the "Checking Filesystems" section. The box then requests the root password.
eg.
"UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY: RUN fsck MANUALLY
(i.e., without –a or –p options)
[FAILED]*** An error occurred during the file system check.*** Dropping you into shell; the system will reboot*** when you leave the shell.*** Warning -- SELinux is active*** Disabling security enforcement for system recoveryGive root password for maintenance(or type Control D to continue)" -
Cause
Corrupt filesystem -
Resolution
The root password for the operating system on the DPA appliances is randomized for security reasons to prevent unauthorized access. There is no way to directly access the operating system on a DPA.
If the DPA is a virtual DPA a new one should be deployed. For a hardware DPA a RMA replacement may be required. For more information on the RMA process please refer to KB
