Cause
There are some things you need to consider when changing the host name of the server on which your Quick Connect instance resides. -
Resolution
As long as your DNS is fully functional with the new host name and routing is working as it should, changing the host name will not cause any problems.
Important Considerations for Password Synchronization
Once the hostname has changed, a reboot is always required for this to take affect on a computer running Windows. The starting up of the Quick Connect Service upong reboot will actually trigger the creation of a new service connection point in Active Directory. The old service connection point, however, is not removed automatically. You can manually remove the old service connection point using ADSIEdit.
Open ADSIEdit and connect to the default naming context of Active Directory, then navigate to the following:your.domain | CN=System | CN=Quest Software | CN=QuickConnectUnder this container, you will see the Quick Connect service connection points. Right-click the service connection point that contains the old host name and delete it.You will need to perform the following on each domain controller where the Capture Agent is installed:- Locate the following file and delete it:
C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Quick Connect Capture Agent\caSvcCfg.xml - Open the Windows Services and restart the Quest Quick Connect Service.
Doing these steps will create a new service configuration file containing the connection information of the new host name, allowing for password synchronization requests to be properly routed to the Quick Connect service.
