Reviewing the output from the "Operation" logs shows the error:

System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. ---> System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access is denied.
"Check Connection" on the Directory and "Check Password" on the account can be completed successfully..
