During 'vgptool apply' or while joining to a domain the following or similar errors may occur.
CSE: Could not open directory '/var/opt/quest/vgp/gpt/4354317C-7BFE-4F36-A039-3278008CD8F1/Machine/VGP/VTLA/Unix' in GPT
ERROR: Extension vgp_unixext.so failed in display gpt info, err = 2
An entry was left behind in the GPO's attribute causing VGP to try and apply something that no longer exists.
RESOLUTION 1:
Delete and recreate the GPO causing the error.
RESOLUTION 2:
1) Open ADSIEdit. Open Domain | Expand DC=yourdomain,DC=com | CN=System | CN=Policies. The GUIDs will be listed, one of these policies should be reflected in our original error message.
2) Right click the correct policy and select properties.
3) Locate gPCMachineExtensionNames and select Edit.
4) One of the values here should be reflected in the original error message, this can be removed and policies can be applied again.
CSE Guids are extensible GPO Guids. CSE GUID's are placed inside of GPO Unique GUID's.
