Description
Vasd segfaults approximately every 15 minutes on AIX with greater than 55,000 users OR 55,000 groups. Flush also fails.
ID command does not show all groups for user.
A flush fails with the following:
Caching Users ... ERROR: Error receiving IPC buffer from server: A system call received a parameter that is not valid.
ERROR: Failed to send/recv User Flush IPC request, payload_err=22
Failed
ERROR: Failed to send Users Flush IPC, error=22
Clearing Negative Cache ... OK -
Cause
Product Defect: 787437
Binary needed to be re-compiled to allow for more memory.

Resolution
WORKAROUND
The binary file can be modified to address more memory:1 - stopsrc -s vasd2 - ldedit -b maxdata:0x40000000 /opt/quest/sbin/.vasd3 - startsrc -s vasd4 - /opt/quest/bin/vastool flushSTATUS
Fixed in version 4.1.6.23700 of Authentication Services and up. To download latest version go to Authentication Services - Download Software
