Error Message while running collection against Active Directory. "AD - Error collecting from AD, message: The server does not support the requested critical extension" (4263368)

While running a collection against Active Directory it eventually fails with the error message'

"AD - Error collecting from AD, message: The server does not support the requested critical extension"

This is an Active Directory error message, specifically;

"The server does not support the requested critical extension"

This is usually an issue with a network disconnect or some other similar issue.

RESOLUTION: 

If the collection is taking a long time to complete the opportunity for a disconnect goes up of course. One example of the error message being observed occurred while running a collection across a VPN connection.

It is always better to run the collection from a server that has access to the domain on the local network if possible.
