Outline the steps required to enable NSS debugging on a non-AIX system.
Steps for enabling (and disabling) NSS debugging
1 - touch /var/opt/quest/vas/.qas_id_dbg
Debug will start after 30 seconds in the file /tmp/qas_module.log (or /tmp/qas_id_dbg.log in some older versions of QAS)
2 - Reproduce the issue and then check the file to ensure it captured the data.
3 - Turn off nss debug by deleting the file created in step 1 and then zip up and attach the files to your Service Request.
Instructions for older non-supported version of the product :
We recommend you upgrade to a supported version of the product ASAP.
QAS 3.5.2.56
1. Stop the vasd daemon:
# /etc/init.d/vasd stop
2. Enable NSS debug (this will cause the NSS debug information to be logged to /tmp/nss_vas.log):
# /opt/quest/bin/vastool configure vas nss_vas enable-debug true
3. Start the vasd daemon:
# /etc/init.d/vasd start
4. Once you have captured the NSS debug (subsequent to a NSS call or reproducing the error that necessitated setting up debug) disable it by running:
# /opt/quest/bin/vastool configure vas nss_vas enable-debug
The data will be logged to /tmp/nss_vas.log file.
QAS 3.5.2.57 -> 4.0.1.x
touch /var/opt/quest/vas/.nss_vas_dbg and debug will start after 30 seconds in the file /tmp/nss_vas.log
