Description
When upgrading an AIX server from 4.1.0.x to 4.1.1.x via the Management Console for Unix (MCU) one or both of the following errors may be reported.
"Upgrade reported success but could not validate upgraded package (vasclnt). May not be properly upgraded.”
"Please install required package: vasclnt 4.1.0.122824"

Cause
Product Defect 682502 - There is an issue with an install script for AIX servers on the Management Console for Unix (MCU). Fixed in MCU 2.5.2. -
Resolution
WORKAROUND 1:
Authentication Services can be upgraded directly on the host.
- Copy the installation media to the AIX server,
- Run 'install.sh upgrade'
- vasclnt & vasgp will upgrade as normal.
- Test the upgrade and verify that everything works as expected.
WORKAROUND 2:
The MCU can be upgraded with a patch file.
On the server hosting the MCU.
- Stop the “Quest One Management Console for Unix”service.
- Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Quest Software\Management Console for Unix\webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF\lib
- Back up the “Bullseye-sugi-2.5.1.jar” and “Bullseye-model-2.5.1.jar” files to a different location.
- Download the new file “Bullseye_patches_682502-712725.zip” (below), unzip and copy the enclosed Bullseye-sugi and Bullseye-model files to “C:\Program Files (x86)\Quest - Software\Management Console for Unix\webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF\lib”
- Restart the “Quest One Management Console for Unix” service.
- Login and test the AIX server.
RESOLUTION:
Upgrade to MCU version 2.5.2.
