VASD will not start after new install. The machine has not been joined yet.

Cause
There is no valid license installed. VAS does not obtain a license until it has been joined to Active Directory. If you try to start the VAS daemon before then, it will stop immediatly after.

Resolution
Join your machine to AD:
# /opt/quest/bin/vastool -u <administrator> join example.com
