Error message received mentioning "unsatisfied dependencies" when restarting pmserviced on a Solaris Privilege Manager for Sudo client after upgrading to 6.1.1 -
Description
The following error message appears when restarting pmserviced:

svcadm: Instance "svc:/network/pmserviced:default" has unsatisfied dependencies.
Error 4 starting pmserviced

Run the following command to check the dependency:
svcs -xv svc:/network/pmserviced:default
If the pm.settings file is missing then you will see the following output:

svc:/network/pmserviced:default (QPM4U service daemon)
State: offline since May 22, 2020 02:43:30 PM UTC
Reason: Dependency file://localhost/etc/opt/quest/qpm4u/pm.settings is absent.

Impact: This service is not running.

Cause
This error message can appear if you have previously installed the Privilege Manager for Unix software package in error prior to installing the Privilege Manager for Sudo package.
In this scenario you mayl discover that the pm.settings file and /etc/opt/quest/qpm4u directory are missing. -
Resolution
1. Check that you have installed the correct client package.
The following command can be used to check the currently installed package:
pkginfo | grep QSFT
The package names for each product are:
Privilege Manager for Sudo - qpm-plugin 6.1.1.0
Privilege Manager for Unix - qpm-agent 6.1.1.0
2. Remove the existing software package shown in step 1 and then re-Install the Privilege Manager for Sudo software package.
Note that this step is required even if the currently installed software package is shown as Privilege Manager for Sudo.
The Privilege Manager for Sudo packages can be found in the sudo_plugin directory on the installation media.The Solaris Sparc version is under the solaris-sparc directory:
QSFTpmplg-6.1.1.0-sparc.pkgThe Solaris intel version is under the solaris-intel directory:QSFTpmplg-6.1.1.0-i386.pkg
3. Join the client to the Primary policy server:
/opt/quest/sbin/pmjoin_plugin <name of primary policy server>
4. Check that the pm.settings file has been created in the following directory:
/etc/opt/quest/qpm4u/
5. Check that pmserviced is shown as online:
svcs svc:/network/pmserviced:default -
Additional Information
Note that Solaris does not automatically overwrite an old version of the package. Therefore if you are upgrading then either remove the old package beforehand, or use a response file (pkgadd -a) with the ‘instance=overwrite’ option.
