While performing an installation of Active Roles 7.3.X, the service is not displayed in the services.msc list. The Active Roles Configuration Center fails with the following error:
"The specified service does not exist as an installed service"
Uninstalling, reinstalling, and performing a repair of the software followed by restarting the server does not resolve the issue.
Residual corrupted data.
SOLUTION
Perform a clean install following the steps below:
1) Uninstall the Active Roles software, and delete the following registry, and software installation folders:
NOTE: Always create a backup of the registry or rename the folders below if you are hesitant to delete these items.
a) C:\Program Files\One Identity\Active Roles
b) C:\ProgramData\One Identity\Active Roles
c) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\One Identity\Active Roles
d) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\One Identity\Active Roles
e) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\One Identity\Updates\Active Roles 7.3
2) Restart the server
3) Login to the server with an account that has local admin permissions
4) Temporarily disable any anti-virus programs deployed on the server
5) Launch the Active Roles 7.3.X installer as the Active Roles Service account, and perform the installation
