Can you create home folders and grant permissions on NAS devices? -
Description
Active Roles may not manage permissions correctly for Home Folders and shares located on Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices powered by operating systems other than Windows.
Depending on the device type, Active Roles may not enforce file level permissions or create appropriate folders and shares. -
Cause
This behavior affects both Active Roles as well as Microsoft Active Directory PowerShell cmdlets. -
Resolution
Permissions must be granted on the NAS device to allow the Active Roles service account to be able to set the permissions for the user accordingly. This may vary depending on the NAS vendor.

Potential Solution example: 1) On EMC Isilon systems, the "Run as Root" permission may be required for the service account.
