Unable to initialize the Self Service site when installed on a DMZ host

The following error is displayed instead of the proper page:

Error in the application. System error occurred. For more information, view the event log.

When checking the event log, no events are written.

Cause 1. User Account Control (UAC) is preventing the creation of the WcfConnectionSettings.xml file.

Cause 2. The Application Pool Identity account did not have sufficient file permissions on the server.

Resolution 1.

1. Confirm the WcfConnectionSettings.xml file exists.
2. For Password Manager 5.7.1 and later:
3. C:\Program Files\One Identity\Password Manager\Web\SelfService\App_Data
4. If the file does not exist copy the WcfConnectionSettings.default.xml and rename it to WcfConnectionSettings.xml
5. Open the file using a text editor and confirm the correct IP address/hostname (Password Manager host server IP) is listed for the host in the ConnectionSettings section. If a non-default port is being used, please also change it here (the port can be confirmed on the PMAdmin site under General Settings | Reinitialization)
6. Open an elevated command prompt and run iisreset
7. Confirm that the SelfService site now opens as expected

Resolution 2.

1. Navigate to C:\Program Files\One Identity
2. Right-click and select Properties
3. Select the Security tab
4. Click Edit
5. Click Add
6. Search for the Application Pool Identity Account
7. Assign Modify permissions to the account
8. Click OK

Confirm that the User site now opens to the correct page
