Encryption algorithm handling in Password Manager 5.15, 5.16 and 5.17 (4383222)

Changing the encryption algorithm of storing the Users’ answers to secret questions and other security sensitive information:

• In Password Manager versions 5.15 and 5.16, the setting appears to save but does not get applied.
• In Password Manager 5.17, the configuration will be lost.

This option is located in PMAdmin under: Configuration | Reinitialization | Advanced Settings

WORKAROUND

Do not proceed with changing the encryption algorithm if you have versions 5.15, 5.16 or 5.17 installed.

In the event the encryption algorithm is changed in 5.17, then a complete reinstallation of Password Manager is required, and a backup must be imported post-installation.

1. Uninstall Password Manager 5.17
2. Remove/rename C:\ProgramData\One Identity\Password Manager
3. Install Password Manager 5.17
4. Import the configuration from a previous export (prior to the encryption algorithm change)
