Starting with Active Roles 8.3, the Azure BackSync Wizard previously available in the Active Roles Synchronization Service has been discontinued and is no longer available.
Customers who relied on the Azure BackSync Wizard to synchronize attribute changes from Azure AD / Entra ID back to on-premises Active Directory must now use the new built-in BackSync Replacement workflow, which ships as part of the Active Roles Administration Service from version 8.3 onwards.
This change consolidates Azure back-synchronization into the Administration Service, removing the need to configure a separate workflow in the Synchronization Service and eliminating the need to install the Synchronization Service at all when Azure BackSync is the only use case.
Affected product / version:
From Active Roles 8.3 onwards, back-synchronization from Azure AD / Entra ID to on-premises Active Directory must be configured using the BackSync Replacement workflow, delivered out-of-the-box by the Product Team inside the Active Roles Administration Service.
