What are the memory requirements on a Unix client machine for Authentication Services (QAS)?
On 4.1 version
Memory is approximately 1KB per user and 2KB per group. With a base memory footprint of 100 MB for Operating System. 10 MB of used memory per process. There are a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 9 vasd processes. The Parent, a Dispatcher, a DB Handler, an auth handler, two permanent LDAP Handlers and up to three temporary LDAP Handlers. However some of the processes' memory is shared.
On older versions (2.x, 3.x up to 4.0.3.x)
Memory is approximately 1000 users per MB, same for groups. With a base memory footprint of 100 MB for Operating System. Everyone who has libc open counts 10 MB of used memory, but everyone is using the same 10MB.
