An out of sync condition exists on one or more replicas
- The date and time on the Primary and Replica do not match.
- They are set to different time zones
- A network communication issue is causing interference
There can be several reason for why an out of sync condition appears. First ensure that both the Primary and Replica are set to the correct time and date and that they are both set to the same time zone.
Next, ensure that both appliances are in the correct mode and check the HA Primary and Replica logs for indication of replication failures.
Try performing a full backup on the Primary and see if it copies successfully to the Replica. You can also download a copy of this backup and restore it to the Replica manually.
If the out of sync condition persists, contact Quest Support for further assistance.
If the Out of Sync issue continues after following the above steps then the following patch can be applied as detailed below:
Log into Primary /PARADMIN - HA Settings Page move the Primary into Standalone mode and Replica into Primary mode - Save Changes
Wait for the Replica to Reboot then log into the Replica /PARADMIN - Maint Tab - Apply the patch - Hotfix_20110714.zip
Generic Key = m65NtTS509R
Option: /genkey
View the patch log to check the patch applied successfully.
Go Back to the Primary - HA Settings page - Put the Primary in Replicating mode and Replica in Test Mode - Save Changes
Check Backup log and wait for the full backup to complete, once complete, view the Primary log and check for full backup to copy over.
Once the backup has copied over change the Replica from Test Mode to Replica mode - Save changes - Wait for mode change to complete.
Check Replica logs for any further out of sync messages. The expected behaviour now is for the incremental "PARDR" backups to be copied from Primary to Replica and being successfully processed. The "Out of sync messages" should stop and not show in the Replica logs. If the out of sync messages continue then contact Quest Support with Primary and Replica logs and reference this solution SOL86593.
