For web applications, what does the "alternative field detection" option do?
Oepn the "Properties" window of a Technical Definition in SSOStudio, select the "Options" tab. In the "Advanced options" section click "Configure...".
The option is "Use alternative field detection method. Activate this if the contents of the web page are not always identicial. This can be slower than the default method."
When "alternative field detection" is activated fields are no longer identified by their position in the web page structure, but by their respective label. The entire page is parsed instead of just the position. This option is useful when using external web pages where the structure may often change, but input labels are consistent.
Please note: each window of the Technical Definition with this option enabled will make the SSO process slower and increase the CPU usage of the system where the SSO is taking place. It is recommended only to use this option when neccessary (for example, when a web page often changes and is outside of your control).
