A vas.conf option has been manually edited by either running the 'vastool configure vas' command or editing /etc/opt/quest/vas/vas.conf directly.
A Group Policy Object is then created to control the content of the vas.conf file.
e.g. The following option is added to vas.conf manually:
[vasd]
netgroup-mode = NIS
A Group Policy Object is then created to control vas.conf
The netgroup-mode = NIS option is then added to the Group Policy.
Later the option is removed from the Group Policy Object so that the default value is used.
However the netgroup-mode = NIS entry remains in the vas.conf file.
The output of the first vgptool apply command after the Group Policy Object change shows:
Restored: vasd:netgroup-mode = NIS
The original setting is restored when the Group Policy option is removed.
To control the options in vas.conf from a Group Policy Object:
1. Remove any manually edited options from the /etc/opt/quest/vas/vas.conf file
2. Add all required options in the Group Policy Object
3. Apply the settings:
/opt/quest/bin/vgptool apply
4. Check that the options have been applied:
/opt/quest/bin/vgptool rsop
If an option is manually changed after the Group Policy is applied then this will be overwritten the next time that vgptool apply runs.
