Error when profiling Unix/Linux clients through the Management Console, when running the profile it fails with the error "./start not found or broken"
For the Management Console for Unix (MCU) server to interact with the host, you must install both an SSH server (sshd) and an SSH client on each managed host. When profiling, a TAR file is copied to the clients /tmp directory, the archive extracted and a shell script is executed.
If you receive this error please check the following:
1- Check you are able to connect to the client from the MCU - this can be tested using the "SSH to Host" option within MCU
2- Check the client has a working version of SCP installed.
3 - Check that we can write to tmp.
Attached is a zipped script to test SCP.
- Please run it like so: ./scpTest /usr/share/dict/words /tmp/destFile .
This should create a file called /tmp/destfile with a list of dictionary words in it.
3- Check that the client has a /tmp directory mounted, is mounted as read-write (rw), allows execution (exec) and has sufficient free space available (~30mb). Check mount with mount | grep tmp command. There should be no noexec or nosuid flags set.
