Assuming the "Configure Active Directory" wizard has been run and some changes are required. For example, how can the connection method to Active Directory be changed?
Open Manager and select the "Active Directory" tab. Open the "Domain" object that was created by the wizard. Then choose "Change master data" in the "Tasks" list:
Select the "Synchronization" tab to choose the provider:
Option 1: Connect to Active Directory (AD) using ActiveRoles Server (as shown in the image above):
If using ActiveRoles Server, set the following values and then save changes to the domain:
- AD domain controller (sync.): this needs to be a server that is running the ActiveRoles Server Administration service.
- AD synchronization server: this needs to be a server running the Identity Manager job service. In addition, the ActiveRoles ADSI Provider is required on this system.
NOTE: If you cannot find the servers in the list you can create those records in the “Basic configuration data” section of the "ActiveDirectory" tab:
- On the "Active Directory" tab clear the value entered in "AD domain controller (sync.)" (this needs to be done every time before you change the connection type, otherwise you’ll get an error message when changing the provider).
Option 2: Switch the connection to directly using AD, bypassing ActiveRoles Server.
