Title
When connecting to a target system via RDP, the IP address of SPS is shown in the title bar -
Description
When users connect to a managed server using Safeguard , the RDP client will show the Safeguard SPS IP (or X1 address) instead of the real hostname / IP address of the managed system being connected to.
This makes it difficult to navigate multiple RDP windows / PSM sessions that a user may have open to different target systems.

Cause
Safeguard is limited by the design of the default Microsoft Remote Desktop Client, which uses the Computer Name field to title the window. Safeguard has to set the “computer name” field to the SPS system to route the traffic through it.
Microsoft does not currently provide any method to specify the text in the mstsc title bar. One Identity has logged an enhancement request with Microsoft to add support for changing the title of an RDP session -
Resolution
WORKAROUND 1
From SPP 6.0, the RDP file that Safeguard generates has SG- followed Asset Name and Account Name (e.g. SG-AssetName_AccountName). This title bar is shown when mstsc is not in full screen mode, or when hovering over the task bar.
WORKAROUND 2Use a Microsoft utility to set a desktop background image with some identification to make it more easily identifiable in the Windows Taskbar preview screens and continue to use the built in MSTSC client:NOTE: By default Safeguard connects with the "Detect connection quality automatically" option, in low bandwidth scenarios MSTSC will disable the background.
WORKAROUND 3
Another option could be to use Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Connection Manager, which allows the user to independently set the IP/hostname and the display name.However, this would require having to copy the IP address or hostname, username connection string & password from the Safeguard client to Remote Desktop Connection Manager.
