Method 1 - Preferred when cluster has consensus
- Unjoin all the Cluster members before attempting the restore process
- Login to the Primary
- Upload the backup from Settings | Safeguard Backup and Restore
- Highlight the backup and click Restore
- When you next login to the new Primary, you will be prompted to Activate the Cluster Member. Click Activate Appliance Now.
- Go to Settings | Cluster | Cluster Management
- Select Add Replica, and enter the IP address
- Repeat the enroll for the remaining Replica’s
Method 2
- Login in the member which will be become the new primary
- Reset the cluster from Settings | Cluster | Cluster Management | Select Reset Cluster. Tick only the Primary on the Include, and select "Reset Cluster". The primary will go into maintenance mode to complete the operation.
- When you next login to the new Primary, you will be prompted to Activate the Cluster Member. Click Activate Appliance Now.
- Upload the backup from Settings | Safeguard Backup and Restore
- Highlight the backup and click Restore
- Login to the Replica
- Fom Settings | Cluster | Cluster Management | Select Reset Cluster. Ensure only this Replica is included on the include Tickbox, highlight this replica, click "Set Primary". The current replica you are logged into should have IsPrimary ticked and Include ticked on itself only.
- Click "Reset Cluster". The Replica will go into Maintenance mode.
- Repeat for any remaining replicas
- Login to the primary
- Settings | Cluster | Cluster Management
- Select Add Replica, and enter the IP address
- Enter the username and password for the Replica, and type Add Replica into the box
- Once complete repeat for any remaining replicas
Requirements for a Replica to join the cluster:
- An appliance must be running the same version as the Primary.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This process assumes you want to rebuild the entire cluster from an existing backup. ALL EXISTING DATA will be overwritten by the contents of the backup file you are restoring.
