Archiving fails when using a SCP archive server -
Description
Large session files fail to archive, which causes the backup size to increase and also fail to archive. Errors such as "The 'UploadBackup' xxxx-xxx-xxx-xx-xx' archive task failed" may be seen in the client.
In the Pangaea.Service.Archive-* logs errors such as the below are seen:
"2019-05-07T13:49:54.6556104+00:00 [Debug] ( 048) {Pangaea.Common.Data.Extensions.TaskLogExtensions} Task 7793d44e-70ce-11e9-b63f-72599d3a3006: Archive has failed: Unexpected error copying file (svc_2cc_safeguard_rdp_1.zat) to (/scp/svc_2cc_safeguard_rdp_1.zat). Reason: Failed:ERROR: Only sent -1408765173 of filesize 2886202123" -
Cause
In versions 2.x of Safeguard attempting to archive large files (over ~ 1GB) by SCP will fail. -
Resolution
WORKAROUND
Configure a SFTP or CIFS server instead of SCP for archiving and backups.
STATUS
Issue fixed in version 6.0. However, it is still recommend to use SFTP instead of SCP. -
