Is it possible to modify the MTU size on a SPP VM appliance network interface?
Network communication between SPP and target servers generally works without additional configuration. However, certain scenarios may require an MTU lower than the default 1500 bytes, which is the standard for Ethernet networks.
Examples include:
- VXLAN deployments on Cisco devices: VXLAN overhead to packets, which can cause fragmentation or dropped packets if the MTU remains at 1500.
- Site-to-Site VPN configurations: IPsec encapsulation introduces additional headers, reducing the effective payload size and potentially causing connectivity issues unless MTU or TCP MSS is adjusted.
STATUS
Enhancement Request # 469182 has been created to address this issue in a future release of SPP subject to successful QA testing and product management approval.
