SPP image for Proxmox Virtual Environment (VE) platform is now available for download using this link
Important Note:
The Proxmox VE SPP image will install with SPP version 8.0.0.21290 LTS
We recommend upgrading the Proxmox VE SPP image to 8.0.2 LTS or 8.2 Feature release or higher after deployment.
If enrolling the Proxmox VE SPP node to an existing SPP cluster that has OS Patch Level 3 or 4 installed then you will need to install the matching OS Patch and upgrade to match the cluster version at (8.0.2 LTS or 8.2 or higher).
To deploy a Proxmox VE
- Log in to the Proxmox VE server with an account that has the appropriate rights and create a virtual machine (VM). For more information, see the Proxmox VE documentation.
- When creating the VM, One Identity recommends the following specifications:
- Assign an ID number for the VM in the range of 100 to 9999, and save it for later to import the SPP disk image.
- Enter a name for the VM, such as SPP-instance-8.0.0.
- For the guest operating system, ensure that you do not use any media, then select an OS type and version that is not legacy, such as Microsoft Windows 10/2016/2019.
- Delete the default disk image to be able to add the SPP disk image later.
- For the disk image, set the SCSI controller to LSI 53C810.
- For the CPU, set the number of cores for your system. For production use, One Identity recommends setting it to a minimum of 8.
- For memory, enter a value in MiB. The default value is 10240 MiB, but for production use, One Identity recommends setting it to a minimum of 32768 MiB (32 GiB).
- For network, select the appropriate bridge and model (E1000E) for your network.
- Confirm your settings without starting the VM after you finished creating it.
- For the hardware settings of the newly created VM, One Identity recommends the following specifications:
- Remove the IDE2 CD/DVD drive.
- Add a second network device to the server. Select the appropriate bridge and model (E1000E) for your host and also set the required MAC addresses.
NOTE: Two network devices are required for adding the disk image, so create one more network device before starting the VM. For more information, see Security in Using the virtual appliance and web management console.
- To import the SPP disk image to the newly created VM, enter the following command:
/var/lib/vz/template/qcov2# qm importdisk <vm-id> <name-of-spp-disk-image>.qcow2 local-lvm
NOTE: The time required to import your disk image depends on its size. - Add the imported SPP disk image for use to the VM.
- Change the boot order so that the SPP disk image boots first.
- Disable using local time for RTC is for the VM.
- Start your VM.
Here is an example of the SPP VM configurations that successfully deployed on Proxmox:
