Safeguard Enterprise Password Vault browser extension fails to authenticate to SPP when the extension option “Site access” is set to “On click”

When Site Access option is set to:

On Click: This setting only allows the extension to access the current site in the open tab or window when you select the extension icon.

On all sites: This setting allows the extension to automatically read and change data on all sites.

The EPV browser extension permissions are granted based on what is selected in the Site Access setting

WORKAROUND # 1:

When "Site access" is using “On click”

• Open the SPP Web UI in a browser tab.

• Ensure the SPP tab is the active (focused) tab.

• Click the Safeguard EPV browser extension icon while the SPP tab is active to grant the required permissions.

• Proceed to authenticate within the EPV extension.

WORKAROUND # 2:

• Change the "Site access" setting on the EPV extension back to the default option as “On all sites”

STATUS:

Enhancement request # 712324 was submitted for consideration to preserve the advantages of “On click” mode (reduced autofill on other sites) while improving usability of the EPV login workflow and is subject to product management approval.
