"Error performing backup or restore; rsync returned failure" (4267417)

When attempting to do a backup using the “Rsync over SSH” option the following error is reported.

Rsync over SSH is not configured correctly. The public key from the Authentication key was not imported to the remote server.

The Admin Guide details how to create a backup policy using Rsync over SSH.

Step 8 has the following requirement.

“The public key of this keypair must be imported to the remote server.”

To import the public key to the remote server.

1. On the SPS
   1. Navigate to Policies > Back & Archive/Cleanup > Backup Policies
   2. Expand the backup policy configured to use “Rsync over SSH”
   3. Click on the Authentication key
   4. Download the public part of the key.
2. On the remote (backup) server
   1. Navigate to the home directory of the user specified in the backup policy

/……/.ssh

1. Import the public part of the Authentication key to the authorized_keys file in the .ssh directory

1. Run the backup to verify that backup using Rsync over SSH works as expected.
