Description
According to our documentation, the list of supported authentication methods for MSSQL protocol is basic auth and ntlm.

Cause
Though the Authentication in MSSQL chapter says that, it's a copy paste error in our documentation which will be fixed in future documentation versions.
You can check the list of authentication methods for MSSQL here.
From this list we only support the SQL Server authentication method.

Resolution
For a working SQL connection, you must use the SQL Server Authentication method.
