Title
SPS is currently operating in "Degraded (Disk Error)" state. -
Description
The High Availability and Nodes status is showing that SPS is currently operating in Degraded (Disk Error) state.
Performing a restart does not solve the problem, the error still persists. -
Cause
This usually happens when the hardware RAID controller loses the SATA link of a disk during heavy I/O. This results in degradation or, in the worst cases, an offline RAID array. Normally, the disk must reappear after a reboot and degraded arrays should be rebuilt automatically.
However, under certain conditions, the firmware on the disks may not react in time to the controller if the NCQ (Native Command Queueing) function is enabled.

Resolution
The solution is to tell the controller to disable The NCQ feature.
To do this, log on to the system via SSH, and start a boot shell and execute the following command:
arcconf SETNCQ 1 disable
The system must be restarted for the change to take effect.
