A user may remain in (Deleting) status after deletion is attempted from the admin console or after the DELETE /api/1/users/{id} API returns 200 Success.
This can happen when one or more assigned applications have not finished deprovisioning. The affected application assignment may show a Pending or Failed provisioning state, and the user record remains visible until the application deprovisioning task is completed.
The user still has pending or failed deprovisioning tasks for one or more assigned applications.
In some cases, deprovisioning actions may be unavailable until the user is licensed and placed in a suspended state. If deprovisioning approval is enabled, the request may also need to be approved before the deletion can complete.
1. Confirm the affected user is licensed. No changes can be made to unlicensed users.
2. Open the affected user and review the Applications tab.
3. Identify any assigned applications with Pending or Failed provisioning status.
4. Ensure the user is in a Suspended state.
5. Open the affected application assignment and use Reset Login.
6. If deprovisioning approval is enabled, approve the request from the Pending section.
7. Retry the user deletion after application deprovisioning completes.
8. Confirm the user no longer appears in (Deleting) status.
