Is it possible to change the Secure Password Extension (SPE) verbiage which is displayed on the logon screen?
“If you forgot your password, use the Self-Service site to reset the password by answering a series of secret questions. After resetting password on the Self-Service site, click the key icon under the Sign-in options and enter your new password to sign in.”
WORKAROUND:
For SPE version 5.6.2 and older:
It is currently not possible to make any modifications to the SPE text as it has been hard-coded into the product.
For SPE version 5.6.3 and above:
The SPE message on the logon screen can be edited as follows.
Update the following Group policy setting
One Identity Password Manager/Windows 8 Settings/Secure Password Extension Tile Settings/Credential Provider’s Description
- Set the custom description in English – “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog”
- Display custom description of the Secure Password Extension credential provider – Enabled
Once the GPO has been deployed the new text will be displayed on the logon screen.
If you hover over the right hand key icon you will see the same text in the floating frame.
This is a workaround from development until a more permanent fix can be implemented.
