How to switch between languages in the SPE -
Description
A user creates created their profile using (for example) Cyrillic characters. When they try to use Secure Password Extension, they need the Latin alphabet to search for their user name, but later, to answer their questions, they need to change to Cyrillic. -
Resolution
For the purposes of this exercise “English (United States)” is the default language and “Russian (Russia)” is the secondary language.
Step 1. – Enabling alternate languages.
- Navigate to Control Panel | Clock, Language, and Region | Change display language
- In the “Region and Language” dialogue box choose the “Keyboards and Languages” tab and click on the “Change keyboards” button.
- In the “Text Services and Input Languages” dialogue box click the “Add” button and choose “Russian (Russia) | Keyboard | Russian
- In the “Advanced Key Settings” tab note which key sequence allows switching between Russian and English input languages. In this case its “Left Alt+Shift”
- Open a text editor and type “Test”
Press “Left Alt+Shift”
And type “Test“ again.
The output should be in both English text “Test” and Russian text “Еуые”
Step 2 – Enabling alternate languages with the system account.
- In the “Region and Language” dialogue box click on the “Administrative” tab
Click the “Copy settings” button
Tick the “Welcome screen and system accounts checkbox”
Click “Okay”
- Logout.
A language button is now available at the top left corner of the screen.
- Open the SPE through the “Forgot My Password” link.
The user can switch language by pressing “Left Alt+Shift”
