The license usage report in the MCU shows 0 licenses used but if pmlicense –cv is run on the policy server the correct license usage is reported.
The Management Console for Unix uses ‘questusr’, a non-privileged account (that is, it does not require root-level permissions) to run the pmlicense binary to gather information about license usage in a read-only fashion.
However the pmlicense program needs to run with root privileges.
Therefore the pmlicense binary (/opt/quest/sbin/qpm4u_/pmlicense) should have the setuid bit set.
-rwsr-x--- 1 root pmpolicy 755256 Oct 27 2016 /opt/quest/sbin/qpm4u_600_056/pmlicense
Resolution 1
Run the following command as root with no options. This will reset the permissions on the pmlicense binary,
# /opt/quest/sbin/pmsrvconfig
Resolution 2
Run the following command as root to assign the correct permissions
# chmod 4750 /opt/quest/sbin/qpm4u*/pmlicense
