How can I pmrun execute a script that runs as a daemon? Each time I successfully run the script, nothing happens.

You are not running pmrun with daemon mode

Resolution #1
When executing a script which inturn runs as a daemon process you need to either envoke pmrun with a -d like so:
# pmrun -d ./daemon_script.sh
Resolution #2
Insert the following into the related policy:
"runptyflags = runptyflags | 0x20; "
When found in the policy it does the same as pmrun -d.
