Active Roles - Azure AD Graph Retirement Update


Thank you for your continued support of One Identity. This is an official notice that the Azure AD Graph API utilized by Active Roles 7.4.x and 7.5 will become obsolete on December 31st, 2022. This comes from a decision by Microsoft to end Support for the Azure AD Graph API in favor of the Microsoft Graph API. This End of Life was originally scheduled for June 30th, 2022 but has been extended until the end of 2022. For more information about the retirement of Azure AD Graph, please see Microsoft Official Statement on the Microsoft Azure Portal.

As of December 31st, 2022 the following Active Roles and Active Roles Synchronization Service features will cease to function on versions 7.4.x and 7.5:

Active Roles:

  • Azure AD Contacts and Groups named "Office 365 Groups" in Active Roles.
  • Creating, removing and updating Active Roles Azure Applications via the Reauthentication and Consent options of the Active Roles Configuration Center.
  • Azure Health Check

Synchronization Service:

  • AzureAD Connector
  • O365 Connector 
  • Syncing to/from Azure
  • Syncing to/from O365 
  • Creating and consenting Azure BackSync applications

To resolve this issue, One Identity has introduced support for the Microsoft Graph API in Active Roles version 7.5.3. Active Roles 7.5.3 is available for download on the One Identity Support Portal.

One Identity is no longer planning to add Microsoft Graph API functionality to the 7.4.x product line as 7.4.x will be End of Life as of December 31, 2022 alongside the Azure AD Graph API. For more information on the Active Roles Product Lifecycle, please visit the Support Portal.
