Promoting the publisher within the Active Roles Console functions as expected, but adding a subscriber fails with the following error:
Login failed for user 'domain\serviceAccount'. Reason: Failed to open the explicitly specified database.

Causa
The service account which is running the SQL Server Agent on the publisher does not have the necessary access to Active Roles databases on the subscriber. -
Resolução
Add the service account which is running the SQL Server Agent as a sysadmin and/or db_owner on the SQL subscriber.
