Formerly a standalone product called Quick Connect, the Synchronization Service is now part of Active Roles 7.x.
Although the two product look very similar, there are some key differences.
1) Synchronization Service is included in the same installer with Active Roles 7.0, as an optional component. Quick Connect was a standalone product with its own installer.
1) There are no additional connector packs available for the Synchronization Service.
2) Synchronization Service offers the following connectors:
- Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services
- Microsoft Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services
- Microsoft Exchange Server
- Microsoft Lync Server
- Microsoft Windows Azure Active Directory
- Microsoft Office 365
- Microsoft SQL Server

- Data sources accessible through an OLE DB provider
- Delimited text files
- Oracle Database (Active Roles 7.4.3 and later versions, only)
- Salesforce (Active Roles 7.4.3 and later versions, only)
- ServiceNow (Active Roles 7.4.3 and later versions, only)
3) Synchronization Service is unable to run synchronization workflows that employ connections to the following systems:
- ActiveRoles Server 6.5
- Generic LDAP directory service
- Google Apps
- Google Postini Services
- IBM DB2
- IBM Lotus Domino
- IBM Lotus Notes
- MySQL Database
- Novell eDirectory
- ODBC-compliant data source
- OpenDS directory service
