When the Self-Service Request feature is configured, the rule works and the request is listed in the console, but no notification is received on any of the mail accounts listed in the notification list.
The %ProgramData%\Privilege Authority\PAReportingSvc.txt file in the server shows an error:
Date Time ThreadID: 5 ScriptLogic.PrivilegeAuthority.PADataCollectionWinSvc EmailNotificationMonitor SendNotification - Failed to send email. invalid configuration: [The SMTP Server 'Host Name' field is currently blank.]
The email configuration is correct under Setup Tasks | Advanced Configuration | Console Email Configuration.
Even though the Console Email Configuration settings are correct, the service named "PAReportingService" is the one that creates the communication channel with the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol or SMTP server to send the notification and it must be configured in the following:
Setup Tasks | Basic Setup | Configure a server Or In version 4.5 (Dashboard | Configure a server) configuration section.
If the Mail Server Information is empty, then the service will not find the correct SMTP server settings resulting in the error message received.
To solve this situation, the PAReportingSvc Service must be configured within the
Setup Tasks | Basic Setup | Configure a Server option.
Or In version 4.5 (Dashboard | Configure a server)
Following the KB Article How to configure Setup Tasks (Basic Setup) will prepare the service to send mails using the correct SMTP server.
