Description
When the Quick Connect or Active Roles Synchronization Service Configuration or Sync History databases databases have AUTO_CLOSE set to TRUE, the console will not connect, services will not start, and errors may appear in both SQL and service logging. -
Cause
AUTO_CLOSE is a SQL feature which will close the target database as soon as there are no sessions active, and will reopen the database automatically whenever a connection is established.
AUTO_CLOSE functionality is not compatible with the Quick Connect or Active Roles Synchronization Service solution.

Resolution
Execute the below query in SQL management studio to set the AUTO_CLOSE option OFF.

ALTER DATABASE
SET AUTO_CLOSE OFF
----------------------------------------
Note: To set the AUTO_CLOSE option OFF for all new databases, apply the above setting to 'model' database.
