Mac home directory not working
Steps to reproduce:
1. Configure automounting of home directories on a Mac.
2. After configuring reboot the system
3. Look under /var/root/Library/Preferences and a com.qas.qasrecords.plist
will exist.
That plist file essentially makes it so that the automounter will know where
the network home directories are located and premounts the share they're
located on. After a while user home directories are no longer mounted until they delete that plist and reboot the box.
Cause 1
Product Defect 23867 seen on QAS 4.0.3. Fixed in QAS 4.0.3.192 maintenance release
Cause 2
Operating system does not create the directory on login
STATUS:
Pending future product release.
WORKAROUND:
As root go to the terminal app and type in the following command:
rm /var/root/Library/Preferences/com.quest.qasrecords.plist
WORKAROUND:
Another issue is the directory does not get created on login. Creating the home directory on login is a function of the Mac operating system and not Quest Authentication Services.
However here is a script we created as a workaround for you to ensure there is a home directory for the user.
This script could then run as a User policy:
#!/bin/sh
if [ ! -d $HOME/Documents ] ; then
mkdir $HOME/Documents
