This article is to explain the different methods of upgrading Authentication Services clients.

Resolution
There is multiple ways to upgrade QAS on the system which are described in the below resolutions. We recommend shutting down any databases such as DB2 before upgrading QAS and then restarting them after the upgrade.
RESOLUTION 1:
Use the install.sh script as root (or sudo) of the product download to upgrade. Be sure to add the upgrade command when running the script. Script must be run with root access.
Synopsis
install.sh [options] [mode] [command...]Example of the upgrade command:
/install.sh -qa upgradeTo see help on the install.sh script type install.sh -h
RESOLUTION 2:
Use the operating system package commands. The packages are in the client/directory of the product download.
Solaris - pkgadd -a ../solaris-upgrade-defaults -d vasclnt*.pkg vasclnt
Redhat, SUSE - rpm -Uvh vasclnt*.rpmAIX - installp -acXd vasclnt.*.bff all OR you can use SMIT
Mac - 1 - Mount the disk image by double-clicking the VAS-..dmg file2 - Double-click the VAS.mpkg file from Finder3 - To upgrade QAS, simply follow the normal installation steps for both the GUI process that will detect when an upgrade is being performed and automatically perform the proper steps to upgrade versions.
