Operating System and Operating System Version attributes not being set in AD for HP-UX servers. (operatingSystem, operatingSystemVersion) -
Description
Running the uname binary works however a uname "C" function doesn't.
This is not an issue with Authentication Services as it uses a standard uname "C" function that would be used by any software that needed to call uname.
Please note that the fix outlined below is an HP-UX change and customers should understand the setting and consult with their HP vendor support if needed prior to making the change in case it affects other processes. -
Resolution
To resolve the issue an HP-UX tunable paramater needed to be set on the HPUX systems that were not setting the operatingSystem and operatingSystemVersion attributes.
This commmand showed what the tunable was set to:
# kctune | grep uname
The working system was:
uname_eoverflow 0
The non working system:
uname_eoverflow 1
To change it:
# kctune uname_eoverflow=0
