When using a Solaris 10 machine you may notice strange behavior around the use of NSCD (Name Service Cache Daemon) :
- Users/groups missing and/or not getting deleted
- User/group case-matching
- Caching discrepancies with users and groups
- id and groups commands only showing the users primary group an no secondary groups
- NSS (Name Switch Service) lookups incorrect
This has been traced to an issue with "Solaris 10 kernel patch 120011-14". This is a part of "Solaris cluster patch 127111-01".
WORKAROUND 1:
Disable NSCD:
# svcadm disable name-service-cache
