Connection timed out - intermittent failures authenticating on high load system -
Description
On a busy system there are intermittent login failures. Syslog may show messages such as the following from vas_ipc_recv:
"Failed to receive request, result=78, error=Connection timed out"or"connection bailed during recv (-1 bytes): Connection timed out" -
Cause
Network delay issue or system too busy -
Resolution
RESOLUTION:
Increase the IPC timeout value (default is 5 seconds) to 10 or more in the /etc/opt/quest/vas/vas.conf file:
[libvas]
vascache-ipc-timeout = 20
You can do this by running:
/opt/quest/bin/vastool configure vas libvas vascache-ipc-timeout 20
