This error can occur when versions of installed components do not match.
Ensure that all packages are the same version. This is testing the following binaries.
/opt/quest/bin/vastool
/opt/quest/sbin/vasd sbin/vasypd
/opt/quest/sbin/vasgpd
/opt/quest/bin/vgptool
/opt/quest/bin/uptool
/opt/quest/sbin/vasproxyd
You can use the operating system vendor commands to check the packages and the versions as well.
For example on Linux: rpm -qa | grep vas
RESOLUTION 1:
Upgrade the package that is a lower number to match the higher component version.
You can do this by using the operating system package commands, the upgrade command of the install.sh script and at root of the product download or if you are pushing the software out via Management Console for Unix (MCU), ensure both the client package and the group policy package is selected for upgrade. If you mistakenly only checked one you can run the install again and check the other to upgrade.
