On AIX if an AD user is added to a local group and the "newgrp" command is run to make the local group the active primary group the following error may be seen:
$ newgrp unix
3004-676 "unix" not in current user groupset.
This is a limitation of the version of newgrp that comes with AIX, that version does not support groups from multiple repositories. The newgrp command on other operating systems such as Linux and Solaris do not have this limitation.
Unfortunately, as this is caused by software supported by IBM, Quest cannot do anything to resolve this. The suggested workaround for the client is to compile and install a version of newgrp from other operation systems such as the GNU, Solaris, or BSD.
