Description
Authentication Service was not working and not able to login to server until restart vasd was done. This has become frequent issue on different servers. -
Cause
The vasd process was getting stuck in a NIS call. Those should time out, but were not. QAS was looking up a server IP from a name, but part of the information passed to getaddrinfo is the port we are looking to use, so it does a service request on it, which goes to NIS, and hangs there it appears.Product Defects:

Resolution
STATUS:
Fixed in 4.1.5.23275 Hot-fix release which is available by request until Maintenance release is available.
