Cause
A stale lock file has a hung vgptool process. This should not happen unless it was run in the foreground or by a process other than vasd. Every vgptool process spawned by vgptool has a signal timeout that will fire and destroy the process which cleans up the lock file. We recommend not using vgptool in a scheduler.
Another cause would be that vgptool crashed. -
Resolution
1 - rm /var/opt/quest/vgp/.vgptool.lock*
2 - vastool -u <ADadmin> join <yourdomain.com>
